Product Description Weber's chimney starter makes starting your charcoal a snap. It also cuts down the amount of time it takes for the coals to get ready. Just load up our extra large cannister full of coals, light up a fire starter or crinkled up newspaper, and set the cannister over the flame. In a matter of minutes the coals will be red hot. Who ever thought it could be so easy?
Amazon.com Review Chefs, start your grills. You can have red-hot coals in a matter of minutes by following three steps: load your coals into this aluminized steel chimney starter, light a fire, and place the starter over the fire. The Weber chimney starter is extra large, holding enough briquettes for indirect or direct fire on a 22-1/2-inch kettle grill. A stay-cool thermoplastic handle and a wire foldout handle let you move the starter safely. --Rhonda Langdon

Good, but can be a little tricky when full August 13, 2010 Political idiot (SoCal.) Picked this up at a Home Depot after always using the pyramid method. This thing works great when it's about 1/2 to 3/4 full. If you have a large grill and want to try to fill it up all the way, add a 1/2 sheet of paper about 1/2 way through to get the top half burning as well as the bottom. It's most certainly worth the money to save you the hassle and time of stacking. Another tip, if you are using a charcoal and hardwood mix like I do (or natural chuck charcoal) add a little vegetable oil to the paper to make it burn longer so that it has more time to light tougher fuel sources.
Unbelievably Easy July 21, 2010 L. T. Cooper (Metairie, LA USA) Dump some charcoal in the chimney, crumple a few sheets of newspaper into the bottom, light the papers, wait a while, and you have ashed, ready to use coals. This is so much easier and healthier than dousing the charcoal with starter fluid and more convenient than using the electric starters. If I'd known this sooner, I would've bought my charcoal grill a long time ago!
Gets the job done July 12, 2010 Evan A. Frank I'm new to charcoal grilling, but this is way easier than using lighter fluid. I'm not convinced that lighter fluid makes your food taste like chemicals, but it sure is nice to not have to buy it. Just stuff a big wad of paper under this thing and go do something else for a little while and when you come back all the coals are hot. When I first got it I thought it was way huge and 2/3 full is plenty for two people. I had to cook for more people the other day so I filled it all the way up and definitely appreciated the large capacity.
love it May 24, 2010 Arthur L. Corum (IL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful

Awesome BBQ tool! May 4, 2010 Funfoodie (Houston, Tx) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The 1st time I went camping (single mom w/2 kids under 12 yrs), my friend lent me a home-made/coffee can starter. I smoked out our whole row of campsites and I mean with billowing smoke. It was a great conversation starter and caused quite a few laughs at my expense. I bought this and never looked back. Fast, even burn, and less waste. I bought two more for my friends (including the friend that lent me the home-made one) and they loved it. They are also women that love to camp & bbq. I also cook with dutch ovens and this is great to always have charcoal to keep even temps while doing multiple meals/pots.
