The Perfect Portable August 10, 2010 A. T. Fong (SF Bay Area, CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been using this portable grill for the past six months and I must admit that it has probably gotten more use than my full sized Weber in the backyard, even when I'm at home. Why, you ask? It's so convenient to set up, heat up and clean up, it simply takes less time to deal with than the big grill. For smaller meals, it is also using quite a bit less LP than a big 3 burner grill. I was surprised how long a 16 oz. tank of LP lasts on high heat: probably over two hours of constant burning.
I'm glad I selected this over the Q220 model. Although the cooking surface is much smaller, this sized grill is very comfortable to carry around. It's small but the grill is solid and in fact accounts for most of the weight of the unit. The Q220 would be a bit too heavy to conveniently carry any distance, like say, from the car to the beach.
It cooks every bit as well as a larger grill albeit with the limitations of less capacity. I believe this has to do with the very high quality grill which gets hot and stays hot. It does not char meat as well as our larger grill but it's hot enough to sear the juices into a steak or burger.
Due to capacity issues, I would not say this will replace your full sized grill, but it will make you want to use it less often when you don't really need to. For portability, this grill can absolutely not be beat. It may cost slightly more than its "competitors", but remember this is a Weber grill that will still be cooking when the others are rusted out shells of their former selves.
Grill Baby Grill August 9, 2010 mgd1234 I love my Weber Q120. I'm a single gal and didn't want a huge grill. The Q120 is the perfect size for a one or two person household but can still cook enough for company. Burgers and chicken have cooked perfectly every time. Purchased the cart, cover and grill tools separately. It's handy to be able to store the grill tools underneath the side tables. I love the portability of the grill on the cart and off. No problems with ignition and clean up is a breeze. As Goldilocks would say....this one is just right!
Good, hot, grill August 2, 2010 KMDComp I grill nearly every day, year round, but I usually only cook for one or two people at a time. This gill is perfect for my situation as it can easily accommodate 2 to 4 steaks and a couple skewers of shrimp or a few lobster tails and a few ears of corn at a time. Burgers come out great on this grill.
One warning though, this thing gets hot, really hot if you crank it up and give it 5 to 10 minutes to heat up. I would highly suggest getting a grill mount thermometer and a surface thermometer so you don't burn anything too badly when you are getting used to cooking on the grill.
I also bought a cart Weber Stationary Cart for Weber Q Grills and the hookup for a full size propane tank, make sure you get the right cart, as the cart I linked to doesn't fit this grill without a slight modification. 2 pieces of angle iron and a few bolts however allow the cart to handle the gill perfectly.
I haven't burned through a full propane tank yet, but so far it looks like I'll get a month or more of daily grilling out of each tank, so this is going to be pretty cheap to run.
It doesn't work ! ( In bright daylight ) July 29, 2010 Navigator (Punta Gorda, Florida) 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
Amazon performed beautifully and my Grill and accessories arrived either right on schedule or a few days before. ( Multiple shipments ). Imagine my extreme disappointment when I discovered the grill simply would not work. I tried two 16 oz. propane tanks, both of which worked fine on an old Sears propane stove to prove they contained fuel only to have both bottles fail to work with my new Weber Q 120. Following instructions carefully, the grill gave a single slight pop on trying to light and then quit completely with no propane flowing. A telephone call to WEBER resulted in Weber telling me they are going to ship to me a new regulator and valve assembly and in about 10 days I should be able to try that. Wonderful ! If and when this doesn't work what can I do now ? All my previous Amazon purchases have given me complete satisfaction.
After a telephone call to Weber, Weber sent a new regulator and valve along with instructions for installation. Installed same ( Took about 10 minutes ) Tried to light and got the same results as before... a slight pop but no flame could be seen. Completely disgusted, I just kept looking at the grill and discovered that the grill seemed to be getting hot. What's going on here ? Turns out the flame is impossible to see in bright daylight, but it really is there and the grill works like a dream. Later that evening I tried again and low and behold, now that it was pretty dark outside, the pale blue very hot flame could easily be seen as well as felt.
Raised my review to 4 Stars. Would be 5 Stars if Weber had warned me about viewing flame in bright sunlight.
