Amazon.com Review
Take the guesswork out of cooking times with this InstaRead thermometer by CDN. Made of premium grade stainless steel, the probe inserts easily into roasting meats and poultry and gives a fast temperature read-out. Accurate to within 2 degrees, the thermometer's high visibility red pointer reads a dual scale from 130 to 190 degrees Fahrenheit (54 to 88 degrees Celsius), and can even be recalibrated for continued accuracy. The thermometer may be used on meats cooked in a conventional oven, microwave, grill, rotisserie, and smoker, and since the glass lens is oven-proof, it can be left in meats during oven cooking (though not broiling). The protective sheath for the thermometer features a pocket clip and loop to conveniently hold the probe. A five-year warranty covers the thermometer against defects.--Ann Bieri

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing   June 17, 2010
J. W. DiDomenico (New York, NY USA)
The sensor on this instant-read thermometer is halfway up the shaft, nowhere near the tip. For smaller pieces being checked, it's unusable without shoving the shaft all the way through and halfway out the other side.

I'll look for a better one and probably pretty much retire this one except for the rare occasions when I cook large roasts and such.

5 out of 5 stars Trust much more than my difital one   March 24, 2010

I ordered this and today I had need to use it.
It works much better and is more accurate than
my digital which will soon hit the trash.
I prefer if at all possible to order items
that Amazon offers because of the free shipping,
not to mention that they stand behind their
products 100%.
I can say I honestly recommend this!

I like that it has a protective case for the shaft. Lense in oven safe (I learned from another that all are not).

3 out of 5 stars Broken Already   February 11, 2010

I had a meat thermometer for 40 years and the glass finally broke so I thought I would order another one. This one came in quickly and looked rather like the old one. The price was great but the first time I used it, It broke. I guess I'll have to look for an old one.

1 out of 5 stars Worthless   December 9, 2009

Thermometer worked fine on Thanksgiving turkey but clearly malfunctioned the second time it was used. Roast would have been burned to a crisp had I believed the thermometer instead of the cookbook. Save you money and buy something else.
